When you download small maps separately, you cannot cross border automatically. You have to download whole maps . Its so big, big. Too bad.

First try with the app and it bring me 2 km the wrong way Thanks for the free 3 years upgrade but what i like about tomtom app is that you dont needs to enter the all adress but with go ia like using google maps or waze so why pay for a clone of free apps
Would like the option to download individual US states. Cant justify 8gb even on my 64gb iPhone. Think Tom Tom need to get real.
Google maps does a much better job. Traffic is ten times more accurate, even on secondary streets. I like the fact on google just double tap use one finger to zoom in and out and able to search ANYTHING not just poi or address. Best of all its FREE. Why pay tom tom? Google has it all and then some.
The original tomtom app is far away better. In this app the route orientation is not very clear. Also you cant search by picture location, or from your iPhone contact directly from the app! … web search is not available also!
CONS: - Maps are taking a lot of space and you cannot configure what you want to download such as 3D buildings, - High monthly cost, other Apps offer better value, - In the docs they say you can import from contacts, thats false, - Locations and destinations from previous version is not imported so you have to start again, - When you add a destination address, you can chose to give it a name, doing so, you see the name but you lose the details of the address, - If you use the app on two or more devices, they do not synchronize through your Tomtom account and there is no other sync method, - bad menu and overall design, - Not optimized for IPads size, - and many other pain points. This is the first version of the new version so I hope they will put a LOT of efforts to improve the App or I will not stay even for my 3 years "free".
Indeed, very big. I couldnt load it on my Wifes phone unless I was prepared to constantly manage her space usage. I like being able to use it off line however I may end up deleting it and only adding it back when I am heading away on a trip. Also, I am disappointed in that the App wont share routes and places between devices. Using myDrive on my iMac to do some route planning I cannot load new Places or routes to my phone and iPad. I would prefer to have the ability to have that functionality. Its new so I am hopeful improvements will be forthcoming.
As mush as I love the original Tomtom app, this one is really bad. Most of the addresses I type in are not recognized (I live in Canada). Ill stick to the old one, even if the traffic option seems broken since they put out this new app. And no support for the AppleWatch! Come on!!!
I just installed Go as a free upgrade to the original app. Yes, its only a free upgrade for 3 years but I dont really have an issue with this given its a fair business model for both parties. The maps are large but my iPhone also used to be 16 gb and is now 128 gb. What I am concerned about is that there is no iPad version and it wont let me use my Go "account" on both my iPhone and iPad mini at the same time. I like having TomTom on both and the mini makes a great navigation device. Hopefully this is temporary situation.
Biggest waste of money if you are in Canada, the maps take you anywhere but where you want to go. Looks great, but it is junk
As a long time user of TomTom for iOS, I can safely say that this app is terrible, at least for Toronto. After downloading the Canada / Alaska map, I cant even find University Avenue as a valid location in Toronto. You may say that the street might be new, but University Avenue has been around since at least 1899. What gives?
Honestly I own the old Canada USA app so they gave me 3 years free this was a wast of time to download totally garbage app. Dont even want it for free. Its like there trying to reinvent the weel. I recommend the old 69.99 app. Its a one time fee Ive had it for 11 years free updates and works offline and the ui really looks like a real tomtom unit
Need a search bar for contact list. I have 2,100 contacts which is hard to scroll through.
It finally loads but this thing is huge. Poor performance and the free with phone app is better. Pass. And delete.
Cannot navigate to contacts. Also there doesnt seem to be a way to force it to avoid a specific road or point, or pass by a certain specific point. This app is limited and lacking basic features compared to the "old" TomTom app.
Typing an address is cumbersome because the near me setting restricts the search results to locations within 10km. So then I tried enabling the whole map setting in the search, but it brings up results from the USA as you start typing, which is annoying because the search results should bring up locations closer to you. I live in Toronto, Canada so its more likely that the search results I want are in my city or in a nearby local city and NOT in another country! The city setting in search is also annoying because I travel between multiple cities and so I dont want to keep entering the city name every time. It should be like the google maps search results, where it brings up local locations when you start typing! Also, why did the app size get so big???
Need to look up current destination info. Such as house No. And road name.
My 64GB phone doesnt havent enough space to hold this app but is fine with the older version. Please allow users to deselect unnecessary maps. Interface is slight improvement. Search misses lots of popular places and current addresses.
While I was driving and using the gps, the app suddenly told me to pay and couldnt continue to guide the route until payment was made. How could I possibly make a payment while I was driving? And fortunately I have data, or I would be lost.
Great new look. Thank you guys. The app cant find the addresses for my contacts with postal code. It did not recognize normal format an address from my iPhone contacts.
