The original version is way better. Regardless of the better design and interface, the older TomTom app has better route planning. Today I compared Tomtom with Waze snd the old Tomtom and this one found a route which was 10 minutes longer.

The new interface is well designed and built in traffic and mapping UI is greatly improved. Much more intuitive. Huge progress from past product. I also like the map subscription service being bundled with the product. For those who vacation in other countries, a huge convenience. I am a renewed fan of this product. Thanks!
Not very impressed with the app as a replacement for TomTom USA. Or even as a navigation app in its own right. It can finally read addresses from contacts, but that interface is very clunky, especially if you have a lot of contacts. Favorites dont transfer over even if you log in with an account. Most inefficient is that the downloaded maps dont work together. In most high-end navigation apps, you download regions/states you need and they are all active at once. Only need the mid-Atlantic states? Just download them. Need to add New England? Do that and plan routes between the two locations. Not so in GO. To plan a route from Philadelphia to the DC Virginia suburbs, you can’t simply download northeast (where Philadelphia is) and southeast (where Virginia is) and go. You have to download the entire USA (all 5 GB worth) because you can only use one map at a time! That is poor usability. How did that pass testing? It offers no extras at all: no widgets (1-tap widget to go home is standard fare in these things), no Apple Watch app, no notifications, no integration with other driving/travel services, no IoT capability. From an aesthetic standpoint, it has limited (read "only two") themes and very few voices (no male English voices at all). Settings may as well be non-existent: you cant even change the order of the main menu, let alone "set" any more useful options. At the 3-year rate, the subscription costs the same as I was paying for traffic in TomTom USA, so I have no arguments there. Still, this needs major additions to be a suitable substitute for the original TomTom apps or even Apple Maps. I’ll give it a few more versions before I give up.
Cannot add waypoints. Interface is bad. Searching is horrible. One time it only gave me zip codes when looking for a destination out of state. If you have had the original tomtom this will infuriate you till you want to throw your device. And they want you to pay to get directions. Just no tomtom.
You take my money and now you want to take my app that I paid for away and replace with this junk?!
The old version its way better than this junk, i was able to downgrade to the old app. dont let them take your money again!!
Ive had to transfer phones a few times during an upgrade process and there is no cloud or local backup & restore for your "My Places" favorites. Im sitting here recreating them from scratch for the third time and its very frustrating. The old app had this and transferred them from device to device. Overall, though, I love the new app. For me, a long-time Tomtom user, it definitely gets better every time a new release comes out, but, the lack of options and features from the old release, like skipping current parts of your route or adding in waypoints into your current route, is a bit disappointing. It seems like the app was rushed out without really considering what people wanted or how they used it. That being said, its definitely getting there, but please, add the My Places/Favorites backup and restore like you have in the previous app. That would bring it up to 5 stars for me. Thank you!
Missing the best features of the old all, such as current speed etc. terrible app compared to the old one.
Downloaded the App when traveling to Canada as I only had the old USA App. Terrible upgrade. Cant see the directions when driving and cant change the display colors. Removed all the good features of the current App such as travel via and most of the customization. Search is awful and POIs are non-existent. Ended up using Google maps/drive as it actually had what the places we wanted to go to on PEI. Why on earth did TomTom change the App? They seem to want to compete with Google maps which is free (and better!). I understand the commercial need to go to a subscription model and will happily subscribe, provided the App is as good as the old one. As it stands, I can only recommend not upgrading or changing to Google maps. Very sad state of affairs. This will surely sink the company unless they get their act together.
I miss the old TomTom USA app where there was no sub fees. I want an app that will have the maps downloaded to my phone. I refuse to use any apps where in app purchases are needed to even use the app. 50 free miles? Get lost.
Cant even import my Favorites from the previous iPhone App version.
This app is somewhat ok. The map is reasonable but is missing many parks and significant locations. Navigation is fairly well calculated (only if on the right setting for a type of route, however, the better Navs seem to calculate the best route regardless of this setting) and its voice guidance is okay. I especially like that this app tells you well in advance which side your destination is on so you can plan where to park by the time you arrive. This app does needs some serious optimization (the map and other functions lag quite a bit and this is on the latest 6s plus) but I imagine that is coming once the upcoming features are fully completed. Also, this app burns through the battery more than twice as fast as any other Nav app and makes my phone heat up significantly. I am fine with the gas stations showing on the progress bar on the right because they dont effect the map itself but the user should be able to select which POI displays or none at all. The one thing that will keep me from purchasing further is the subscription model. Like many, I dont like ongoing subscriptions. I much prefer a fair one time fee. Hard to say though which pricing model will be best; a higher one time fee or a lower ongoing subscription fee. I would bet many will lean away from the subscription fee.
Less features/options than the original app. Wont bother using this until its equivalent or better.
OMG Tom Tom was my go to App. What have you done. This used to be one of the best navigation apps anywhere. Instead of updating the old app you have given us a piece of garbage. I cant believe I spent 19.99 on this useless traffic update app. I morn for my old Tom Tom.
Only buy if you need offline maps, in which case there might be better options for offline maps. Traffic aggregate does not compare to google maps or Apple maps. Directions put me on a dirt road even though dirt roads option was turned off. Tomtoms route planner is the worst.
This is a very good idea to streamline all of the tom-tom products. The app runs well and everything is good. Im sure over time itll get even better. One very big downfall I see is the size of the maps North America been over 5 GB or North America and Canada at almost 7 GB. Those are way too large even for newer phones. Will be five star for sure if the sizes of the maps reduces
I shouldnt of upgraded. Went from one of the best Nav Apps. Know helps, best route is not working correctly. Search is terrible. Please give me back the old Tom Tom App!!!
Super annoying, bring back the old version.
Never saw buildings in 3D also didnt have lane guidance. Doesnt do half of what it claims. They dont bother to solve issues.
Wanted to use this to find winding roads but they removed it form this version of the app. Why remove a great feature for motorcyclist.
