TomTom GO: Navigation, Maps App Reviews

Dont buy!

Was a great app, but now after upgrading, not good and you have to pay a yearly fee of at least $20 a year to use the app. Terrible! Tons of free navigation apps out there, use them. Really sad Tom Tom.

Numlissimo

I have lost all features bought in formers versions ( voices and also favourite destinations) Iphone is now also usable as heater! The most improbable thing happened! The gps does not know where i am most of the time! It shows me in istanbul when i already came back 4 days ago. And no possibility to make him understand i am back in paris... This is a shame!

Bien mais .....

Très beau , seul hic ... Pas compatible CarPlay , donc sert a rien ....dommage

Terrible try to take on Waze

I have always been a happy user of Tomtom Brazil, subscribing to the excellent traffic alerts on both my iPhone and my wifes. Instead of improving an already excellent app, I can understand the intention in going after Waze. However, hinting at a possible end of life for the current costly apps and offering in its place a completely sub-par app is unacceptable. Even the Re routing during traffic is a lot dumber than on Tomtom Brazil. Lots of forbidden conversions are suggested, and I could not care less for landmarks on my map. Please consider this feedback in your roadmap.

Pretty to look at, ugly to use

Although the user interface is graphically "jazzed up"... Its a nightmare to use. Very difficult to navigate, add favorites etc. and functionality is severely limited versus the old app. Im going straight back to the old app.

Its like you dont listen to what we want

PROS - Free to test, but only 75km. CONS - Maps are bad in Canada. Missing a lot of POI - Be prepare to scroll a lot in menus. Its really big so you can read properly. - You cant read properly because they thought that a transparent menu would be a good choice. - Maps are heavy because you cant choose to not download extra info like 3D etc. - Cant select the language, has to be the same as the iOS system. - Price is quite high as you are only renting the service and not acquiring it. I mean, when you stop paying you dont have anything left, you dont own the old maps that you downloaded before. - If you download multiples little maps instead of a big big one, you cant pass from one to another seamlessly (check in Europe, you need to download all Europe (6Gb) or change the map every time you cross the border...

initial impression

Just upgraded from TomTom USA/Canada for free. As part of the upgrade you get 3 years before having to renew. The app takes a bit of getting used to, but is quite intuitive. The interface is gorgeous. Lots of features not available with Google or Apple Maps. Not sure yet how well it works, but Im somehow optimistic.

Seriously???

It is asking for over 7gb of space to install the same maps that the previous TomTom app that I purchased handled in 1.7gb

Out to Lunch

Yearly subscription fee? No thanks...you guys are out to lunch.

FYI: Its a massive app

Requires a minimum 1GB download… seriously?!? Get your act together TomTom we are *iPhone users* we want to download resources on demand, not chew through our disk space just to try your app.

Free upgrade?! Yeah right

If you bought the real app for 50-70 dollars you have exactly what they are touting. But for free. Had the North America tomtom app for 10 years. Amazing app and useful as I can download it every time I update my phone. Works offline also. This new app is just a solution to an issue Tom Tom is having. Not making any new revenue on an app when its all inclusive and works for ever or until they decide to stop supporting it. Test it for 75 free km? Do you pay gps per km? What a joke. To transfer from my app I get 3 years free ? Pft. Pitiful cash grab oh and the map for Canada us is over 6 gb !!!! My previous app was under 2 gb. No thanks deleted immediately.

Good if you need offline maps

Nice policy to have 3 years free for previous customers. Strange interface. Good voices, no ability to get info from address book or calendar. Good 75km of test per month. You can try it to see what you think.

feeling let down

Ive upgraded and my Traffic didnt transfer. Cant find option anywhere to do so. My favorites didnt get transferred either. Going back to old version until bugs are fixed here

Maps Too big

I upgraded from the US/CAN app. The original one takes 1.7G on my phone. The new one with just the US is close to 8G. There is no way Ill install that on a 16G phone. The smallest map is about 1G

Rip Off

I paid for the old app $60 and now I only get 3 years free maps... Honestly thats a rip off!!!!

Crap

This new TomTom app is a blatant money grab. Its not really good. Its difficult to navigate the app. Maps are too large to download for the avg iPhone user.

Takes up way too much space

Very disappointed that this app takes up almost 7GB of space. Also takes a VERY long time to download the map.

Trash

What a step backwards. Not designed for iPad, too large of a file for the average iPhone. Monthly or yearly fee???? You better not stop supporting the previous version, or stop providing map updates, AND if I upgrade my iPhone or iPad in the future, I better be able to download the previous version that I paid good money for. I have faithfully used TomTom products for years because I believed them to be the best. It now looks like my thoughts might be changing. Live traffic updates are useless when travelling in Canada because it continually uses data when searching for traffic, and when travelling in the USA, data roaming is out of the question. Trash this new version and maintain the previous version.

Terrible

I paid close to $200 for the Canada & US and European Tom Tom app, now they want me to pay more for features offered for free by other navigation apps?! To top it off, theres no option to download only the Canadian maps so the map alone is over 6 gigs! Theyre out of their depth!
