A Great GPS Ruined!
The original Tom Tom app on an iPhone was my favorite GPS. The display was clear and easy to read, it presented all the information you needed, and the maps were more accurate than any of the other units I tried. Having the maps downloaded on the phone was important for when cellular service was weak. Being able to configure the display was also nice.
But the new user interface in this app is a step backwards. The text is so small and dim that I had to have my wife read it to me, or hunch over the steering wheel and squint - not something you want to do in heavy traffic. The colors are dimmer than in the original app, making it harder to read. The sidebar showing distance to the next POI (gas, accident, etc) is nice, but again, hard to read. After trying it on two trips of several hundred miles each, I switched back to the old app, which was still on my phone. What an improvement! I guess Ill just use the old app until it stops working, then switch to Google Maps. Hopefully Tom Tom will give us back the "classic interface" or fix this "New Coke" interface before then.
